Mumbai Indians partners MSSA to promote sports in schools

Mumbai: Mumbai Indians, the Champions’ League T20 (CLT20) defending champions, today announced its partnership with Mumbai Schools Sports Association (MSSA) to develop and support sports tournaments amongst Mumbai schools,

Nita Ambani, owner of Mumbai Indians strongly believes that “sports, as part of education, help develop behavioral skills and shape the character of young people to succeed in life. MSSA provides a unique platform to instill a strong sporting culture in our education system, by conducting events at the grass roots level for both boys and girls in the Under-8 to Under-16 categories.

Mumbai Indians looks forward to working closely with MSSA in promoting sports as an integral part of education. This is a significant step for Mumbai Indians in its efforts to strongly promote other sports beyond cricket at the grassroots level. ”

Mumbai Indians will also explore various opportunities such as coaching programs, infrastructure development, health & nutrition programs by bringing in expert adviceto enhance the sports experience for students.

As part of the partnership, all MSSA organized inter-school tournaments will be branded as ‘MSSA-Mumbai Indians Inter-school tournament’ from the current year.

Rev. Fr. Jude Rodrigues, President MSSA said, “The opportunity to be associated with Mumbai Indians will bring innovation and inspiration to MSSA. MSSA is a vast pool of talents waiting to be tapped. This will improve the opportunities and prospects for kids with the potential to become good citizen and great sportsperson of tomorrow.”

MSSA is one of the country’s oldest and most prestigious sports promoting bodies established in 1893 and has been organizing inter-school sports tournaments for its member schools in Mumbai for 119 years now.
