New Delhi: After Gagan Narang won the bronze medal for India and set the ball rolling for India and put an end to India’s medal drought in the London Olympics, social networking has been flooded with congratulatory tweets for the shooters including a tweet from the Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar.
"Gagan Narang, you make us proud by winning the first medal in Olympics 2012. Let`s hope and pray that we follow it up by achieving many more."
Sachin who showed his support to the Olympic contingent saying that winning or losing does not matter and that are all ‘Heroes’ tweeted just few moments after the 29 year old Hyderabadi shooter shot the bronze.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh also congratulated the shooter for his achievement and sent out a congratulatory message for him.
"I join the nation in congratulating Shooter Gagan Narang on his winning the Olympic bronze medal in the 10 metre air rifle event. I wish Narang more success in the two other events he is participating in," said the prime minister in a statement.
This is Gagan’s first medal in his three Olympic attempts and he won it after he shot an aggregate of 701.1 in the finals of the 10m Air Rifle event.
