Bangalore: In pursuit of his only missing trophy - The Asian Snooker Title, 15 Time World Champion, Pankaj Advani cruised into the knock-out stage of the Asian Snooker Championship while not losing a single frame.
Winning all his three matches in Group A, Pankaj won his first match defeating Saudi Arabia's Sulaiman Almisfer 4-0 (84-26, 81-6, 76-23, 70-15). In his second match in the group, Pankaj Advani defeated local favorite Ali Alobaidli in straight frames, 75-24, 138-4, 133-0, 84-28 with breaks of 111 and 133 in the his second third frame respectively. At 133, Pankaj was also four points shot of the highest break of the tournament to date.
In his final group game, Pankaj who was matched up against Philippines' Alvin Barbero, defeated him 4-0 (68-20, 70-13, 111-5,82-9) scoring a break of 90 in his third frame, to enter the knock-out stage of the tournament.
Commenting on his performance thus far, Pankaj was exhausted but elated by his form,
"I am glad to have hit the ground running at the Championship. The breaks on Day 2 and 3 have definitely helped with my confidence level going into the knock-out stages. However, the competition has just started and I will work towards staying focused and delivering my best at the table."
