Colombo: In a dramatic end, B. Bhaskar of India won the 8th game of his quarter-final match by one point to edge out multiple-time world champion Pankaj Advani from the Asian Billiards Championship 2016 at Colombo.
This was an interesting match to watch that swung like a pendulum till seventh game where both had won alternate games and the eighth game that was about to go in favour of Advani, he missed it on 99 and Bhaskar did the justice by scoring the match point and caused biggest upset of the competition. Bhaskar will now take another world champion Peter Gilchrist in the semis.
The next semi will be played between two Indian players Dhruv Sitwala and Siddharth Parikh. Dhruv registered 5-2 win over Marlando Sihombing of Indonesia and Siddharth Parikh knocked out his compatriot Sourav Kothari 5-2.
