Mumbai: Asian team snooker gold medalist Brijesh Damani of Indian Oil, who hails from Kolkata, West Bengal overcame former world 6Reds bronze medalist, Shivam Arora of Bihar 10-5 to win the NSCI All India 9-Ball Open Pool tournament held at NSCI in Mumbai last night.
Damani, No.7 in National 9Ball pool, got reward for his consistency and impressive play as he led right through the Race-to-10 racks final.
After surging to a 4-0 lead, Damani made it 6-1 before Arora bring down the margin to 5-6 and tried to set the stage for a close finish. But Damani cornered him by winning next four racks in a row and earned winner’s prize of 50,000 and a special painting from the Indian Fine Arts by artist Vasant Viraj Naik of Goa.
