Chennai: Lalrina Renthlei from Mizoram defeated Delhi's Laxman Rawat 5-3 in the final of the SVS All-India invitational junior snooker tournament here Saturday to evoke memories of his triumph in the junior National championship in this city last year.
Renthlei, with breaks of 36 and 49 in the seventh and eighth frames, won 0-83, 76-06, 92-39, 64-27, 17-66, 15-59, 76-26, 65-0 to yet again underline his potential.
Rawat could not sustain the form he had shown earlier in the match that he started on a break of 45 and then fought back from 1-3 to 3-3 before yielding grown to Renthlei's consistency.
In the semi-finals played earlier in the day, Rawat beat Himanshu Jain (Andhra Pradesh) 4-3 and Renthlei accounted for Peter Paul (Tamil Nadu) 4-2. (IANS)
