Ducati win for the first time in 6 years

In between the beautiful Austrian Alps, The Red Bull ring packed with 95,000 MotoGP fans celebrated the return of MotoGP to Austria after 19 years.

The race also marked the return of Ducati to winning ways after six years, the last win coming in 2010 at the hands of Casey stoner in Philip Island. But it was the 27 years old 'Maniac' Andrea Iannone to give its first one after 2128 days. The win was made sweeter for Ducati as Dovizioso finished second behind his teammate. The last time Ducati had a 1-2 finish was 9 years ago in 2007 at Phillip Island with Lorris Capirossi and Casey stoner.

Iannone took a gamble at the start of the race by putting on the softer set of tyres while the rest of the grid, including his teammate stayed on the harder option tyres, and the gamble did pay off, as towards the end of the race he was seen pulling away from his team mate Dovi easily.

It was Iannone's first win in his MotoGP career but sadly he'll be leaving Ducati next year to make way for the current MotoGP champion, Jorge Lorenzo who finished 3rd in the race. Well, the Austrian GP managed to put up a spectacular show on its return and hope it does for years to come.
