New Delhi: With just few days left for the first ever Formula One race to happen on Indian soil, the F1 fever is fast spreading across the length and breadth of the country. The race which is all set to make India’s sporting scene immortal in the history books, has also caught the fancy of the sports fraternity of the country and they are all looking forward to the epic weekend.
F1 which is touted as one of the most difficult and costliest sports is seriously going to change the scenario of Indian sports forever after its debut in India and sports stars from all the different sects have already geared up to welcome the mother of all motor sports “ F1”.
Look what different sports persons have to say about the F1:
Gagan Narang: Shooter
It feels great to see our own very Delhi on the Formula One map now. I feel after the CWG, the coming of F1 truly makes Delhi sub-continent’s sports capital. I am fond of the mean machines and follow the sport too. I would have loved to be at the BIC for the inaugural GP, but for my training schedule. Wish the organizers all the luck and hope Force India has a podium finish.”
Prashanti Singh: Indian Basketball Player
It is a great beginning. Sports are commercializing in India and more and more new events like F1 would widen the sports viewing audience. The standard of Indian sports would now touch the sky and people would more exposed to the game. Earlier if someone had to watch F1 it was either T.V or people had to go out of the country to watch it. But now we can see it in India itself. So it’s a great thing and I am really forward to it.
Bhaichung Bhutia: Ex-Indian Football Captain
I am a great fan of F1 and I am really looking forward to this wonderful weekend. As an Indian it is great that F1 is coming to the country. I am excited about it. I recently met Michael Schumacher during a charity match in Munich and I have also met Adrian Sutil and Giancarlo Fisichella. I want to see Narain and Force India doing well in the race.
Ronjan Sodhi: Shooter
Hosting an F1 in India is fantastic. It is very important for India to host events like this so that India becomes a potential sporting nation. So it is very good to have an event of this magnitude in the country. I am a big fan of F1, but unfortunately I wouldn’t be able to see it live as I wouldn’t be in the city. But then I would keep a tab on the race throughout.
Akhil Kumar: Boxer
To be honest, I do not know much about F1. But one thing I would say that organizing sports like this has started creating fan base for different sports as well apart from cricket. To see so many people taking interest in F1 is indeed very spectacular and with course of time, it would seriously change the attitude of Indian people towards other sports.
