Round 2 of 18th JK Tyre Racing C’ship 2015 in Coimbatore

JK Tyre Racing Cship 2015 in CoimbatoreCoimbatore: Kari Motor Speedway, will be buzzing with high octane motorsport action as Round 2 of the 18th JK Tyre Racing Championship will take place in Coimbatore on September 5-6, 2015. Reigning champions & contenders from across India will be participating across three categories in the championship;JK Racing India Series, Formula LGB 4 & JK Tyre-Volkswagen Vento Cup.

In the JK Racing India Series, Round 1 witnessed 11 of India’s national champions and one young international driver from Italy fight for the podium finish. The grid comprises of 2014 National Karting Champions, Champion of Formula LGB 4 and overall champion of JK Tyre-VW Vento Cup. This weekend will feature three races of the JK Racing India Series. The international driver on the grid is proving to be tough contender which has raised the level of competition in the category.Akhil Rabindra dominated the first weekend of the championship. The Bengaluru boy won two of the three races that were held in Round 1.Akhil Rabindra has been vying for the championship title for over two years now and is all charged this year to take home the prestigious title.Vishnu Prasad, Kush Maini, Dhruv Mohite, Ameya Bafna are all capable drivers to win on their day.


In the Formula LGB 4 category, the competition is expected to go down to the wire as some of India’s best race drivers are vying for the coveted 2015 championship title. The drivers be it the seasoned ones like Chittesh Mandody, Sudarshana Rao, Krishnaraj Mahadik, or the rookies like Mohd Nallwala are fearless and with one agenda of gaining a lead over the other in the overall championship points table as that will decide their fate in the fight for the title. The drivers represent four professional racing teams namely Team Meco Racing (owned by international racer Armaan Ebrahim), Team Rayo Racing (owned by 8 times National Champion Rayomand Banajee), Team Dark Don Racing (owned by ex-racer Afsar Riyaz) and Team Avalanche Racing (owned by ex-racer Fazal Khan).

In the JK Tyre- Volkswagen Vento Cup which made its shift from Polo cup this year witnessed electrifying action in its maiden round. Veteran touring car racer and the very first champion of the Volkswagen Polo Cup 2010, Sailesh Bolisetti from Vizag who also a Telegu movie starmade a strong comeback in the Indian racing scene with a pole position and a win in the very first race of the season. Delhi boy Karminder Singh stole the show in the second race of the weekend as he gave a tough fight to his competitors and grabbed the number one position. Anindith Reddy from Hyderabad who secured a second place in both the races can prove to be a tough competition for everyone in the coming rounds. Rookies are only two thousandth of a second of the pace of the big boys.With the reverse grid format, it will be interesting to see if the rookies will be able to take over in the coming race weekends.

The four girl participants namely Mira Erda & Sneha Sharma (participating in FLGB 4), Neha Dabbas & Ria Dabbas (participating in JK Tyre-VW Vento Cup) gave a commendable performance in the first round of the championship and managed to give the boys a tough competition on the track.

This year the championship has participants from across the length and breadth of the country. Chewang Lama from Gangtok, Diljith from Kerala, Mira Erda from Vadodara, Raghul Rangaswamy from Mahabalipuram, Alex Bora from Assam, which reinstates the national stature of the championship. Having trained under world class fitness trainer, Ramji Srinivasan, there has been a remarkable change in the drivers which has further helped in their overall performance.
Associating with MTV, India’s popular youth channel and with a live webcast, the popularity of the sport has grown multifold. The fully packed grand stands during race weekends bear witness to the same.

The series will be webcasted live on the JK Tyre Motorsport (www.jktyremotorsport.com) website on Saturday & Sunday.

The championship is run under the aegis of Federation of Motor Sport Clubs of India (FMSCI) and Motul is the official lubricant partner to the championship.
