Spa-Francorchamps: Sahara Force India toppled Williams from the seventh position in the constructors’ championship of the Formula 1 Racing after securing 13 points from the Belgian Grand Prix, here yesterday.
Leading the way was Nico Hulkenburg who finished at a career best fourth place and Paul di Resta at 10th. It was Force India second best result of the season. Hulkenburg earlier in the season fifth place finish at the European Grand Prix.
Both the drivers started from behind on the grid but an accident in the opening lap of the race helped their cause. With 59 points they now have a lead of six points over Williams and also closed the gap with sixth placed Sauber to 29 points.
The race started off with a huge collision and in the first corner of the opening lap Lotus’ Romain Grosjean bumped into Lewis Hamilton of Mclaren who in turn crashed into the back of Fernando Alons of Ferrari. All of them were out of contention and helped the Indian Team.
Hulkenburg did great and was also in contention and gave a competition to Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen.
Resta struggled with his car in the race, but a late pit-stop by Bruno Senna helped him to finish the race amongst points.
Meanwhile McLaren’s Jenson Button who stated the race from pole position won his second race of the season and was followed by Button of
Red Bull and Raikkonen of Lotus in second and third position respectively.
Mercedes' Michael Schumacher finished 5th followed by Daniel Ricciardo of Toro Rosso on 6th.
However it turned out to be a bad race for lone Indian driver Narain Karthikeyan who crashed into the barriers after slipping in lap 31.
