Mugello: Team Mahindra Racing's lead rider Riccardo Moretti won the first of the two races at the weekend in the Italian 125cc championship here Saturday while team-mate Sarath Kumar finished eighth.

Starting from pole position, Moretti opened up a sizeable lead that he maintained till the finish while Sarath improved his lap times but could manage only eighth, but it was a good result for the Indian as he had started 22nd on the grid.

Moretti is currently second in the standings while Kumar is sixth. In the manufacturer standings, Mahindra is the leader so far with a six-points advantage over Aprilia.
