Bhubneshwar: India’s continued with its good show at 2017 Asian Athletics Championships, which is being held in Bhubaneshwar, on the second day, as Nirmala Sheoran started the campaign by winning the women’s 400m race, while Muhammad Anas won the gold in the men’s 400m, here on Friday.
However, it was the stupendous show by metric milers Chitra P U and Ajay Kumar Saroj’s who went on to win the gold medals in 1500m race that surprised many.
Others to win medals winners on the second day included Rajiv Arokia (silver), Isna Mathew (bronze), Tejinder Pal Singh Toor (silver) and Dutee Chand (bronze).
Currently India have a total of 15 medals in their kitty, which includes six gold medals, six bronze medals and three silvers medals and is at the top of the medal tally followed by China who is placed second with 10 medals.
Meanwhile, on Day one India managed two gold medals. G Lakshmanan won the yellow metal in 5000 metres, while and Manpreet Kaur won the gold in shot put. V Neena and Nayan James secured silver and bronze respectively. Vikas Gowda also won a bronze medal.
