New Delhi: Indian Elite runners Nitender Singh Rawat, Gopi T and Mohd Yunus interacted with the media at the ADHM 2015 media centre at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. The trio has been participating at the national sports camp in Ooty and is geared up to put their best foot forward during the Sunday race. When asked about what timings they expect at the Sunday race, Nitender said that “We have been training at the national camp for a while now and are in good shape. It will be difficult to comment who leads the race, however, we intend to finish the ADHM 2015 in better time than last year”.
The runners have been training at high altitudes and a colder weather in Ooty. When asked if the fog would be an issue in the current edition of ADHM, Gopi T emphatically mentioned that “we are prepared for the rough weather and will run through fog if required”.
The Olympic qualifying trio - O P Jaisha, Sudha Singh, Lalita Babbar, was joined by a young Suriya L who is the current champion of TCS World 10K 2015 in with a record time of 34:34. The trio has been training together and feels at the same level. Talking to media reporters, O P Jaisha said, “we will not be competing against ourselves but look forward to putting up a competition to the international elite women runners”. Sudha Singh added that “We hope to give it our best and finish the half marathon in less than 70 minutes this year.”
The long distance running coach for the Indian team, Dr. Nikolai Snesarev is very positive about the Indian runners and looks forward to creating a new national record at the Sunday race. “The Indian contingent is very dedicated and has been practicing very hard over the past few months completing all stages of preparation for an elite event such as ADHM 2015”
