IOA hails Randhir Singh’s appointment as ANOC vice presidentNew Delhi: Ace sports administrator and six times Olympian Randhir Singh has earned another distinction of being first the Indian to be appointed vice president of the prestigious Association of National Olympic Committee (ANOC).

Randhir Singh, who is also the Secretary General of Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has been nominated as the Vice President of ANOC from the Asian Continent.


Indian Olympic Association (IOA) Acting President Vijay Kumar Malhotra today hailed the appointment of Randhir Singh saying it as yet recognition of India’s growing sporting prowess in the comity of nations.

“In October last year Randhir Singh was re elected unanimously as the secretary General of Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) for the record sixth term, and now he has been appointed ANOC’s vice president goes to shows that not only the OCA but also the International Olympic Committee (IOC) wants to make full use of his experience as sports administrator” Prof Malhotra said.

Reacting to his appointment Randhir Singh said he is humbled by this honour. ”I have always worked for the interests of the sports persons and will continue to do so”

He said he will be representing Asian continent in the ANOC,and it will be his endeavor  to raise the standard of sports in the continent and make it a force to reckon with at the World Level.

Randhir Singh appointment was made at the 18th General assembly of the ANOC held in Moscow last week in which Shiekh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al- Sabah was elected president.
