MSOSA Golf for Charity 2017 lights up DLF Golf & Country Club

MSOSA GOLFGURUGRAM: There's something special about MSOSA Golf for Charity tournament which attracts creme-dela-creme of senior bureaucrats, politicians, acclaimed businessmen, and key decision makers. The 12th edition witnessed 128 Modernites tee-off enthusiastically at the Gary Player designed DLF Golf & Country Club.

Anuj Nahar clinched MN Kapur Trophy in 0-12 handicap category (Nett) with 72.4 points, while Jaipreet S Kler finished runner-up with 73.4 points.

Savar Malhotra tallied 71.6 point to triumph in the 13-24 handicap category, while Rohit Gangwani had to settle for the runner-up trophy with 74 points.

Abhyudaya Sanghi produced the day’s best gross score of 77 to clinch Gen. Virender Singh Trophy while Hritik Gandhi finished runner-up with 81.

Atul Khanna, President, MSOSA hailed the idea of doing a charity golf tournament like this year after year to support charitable work by MSOSA.

Sandeep Parashar, Vice President, MSOSA was delighted with the turnout for a noble cause – to raise money for the underprivileged: “I would like to thank all the participants, sponsors and Rajeev Singh of DLF in particular for providing excellent golf course facility gratis. We received a record number of entries this year. However we couldn’t accommodate everyone – we would like to make it a two-day affair next year.”

Gurkirat Khera, Director, Snowhite who has supported the event right from the first edition said, “We always look forward to supporting MSOSA Golf for Charity and as usual it was a great, fun-filled event with lots of on-course prizes. There is a lot of bonhomie and to top it all it was played in the right spirit.”

A number of interesting contests were conducted during the day. Hritik Gandhi fired a 280 yard drive off the tee box to win the Longest drive on the 8th hole while Pankaj Khanna placed his approach shot five feet five inches from the pin to win Closest to Pin award on the 5th hole. Shiva Parmar was deadly accurate with his drive – landing it on the line to clinch the Straightest drive on the 15th hole. L Mudgil carded a 76 to clinch the Best Pro award.

Anshul Chawla & Anshuraj Khanna (1993 batch) won the best batch award while Varun Uppal bagged the ‘Best Dressed Golfer’ prize. Shikha Kwatra clinched the ladies putting competition later in the evening.

Maj. Gen. Ajay Sood (1961 batch) bagged the prize for the oldest golfer in the tournament, while Eshaan Puri (2015 batch) won the prize for the youngest golfer on show. Beyond some serious golf, the participants also enjoyed being pampered with live band, exquisite food and wine in the evening. The prizes were given away jointly by Atul Khanna and Sandeep Parashar.

There were some exciting prizes on offer including return air tickets to Thailand and stay courtesy Tourism Authority of Thailand. “We are proud to be associated with MSOSA Golf for Charity event.
