Three Indian pairs get wild card entries in doubles main draw.

Chandigarh:Three Indian pairs, have been given wild card entries in the doubles main draw they are, Lakshit Sood and Chandril Sood, Dheeranush Singh Bhatti and Digvijay Singh Naruka, and Vijay Kannan and Arun Prakash Rajagopal .

 

Unseeded Kevin Jordi (Switzerland) put a tough challenge before the seeded Kenny Bun (Cambodia) and defeated him in straight sets 6-2, 7-6(6) at Tennis Stadium, Sector-10.This was an easy win for Kevin, but in the second set Kenny gave a hard challenge ,that was ultimately overcome by Kevin Jordi at 7-6 (6).

 

Second Seeded Akash Wagh (Ind) Performed good and took over Ronak Manuja in straight sets 7-6(2), 6-3 and the third seed Shien Yin Peng (Taiwan) defeated Vivek Shokeen (Ind) 6-2, 6-4, but Vivek Shokeen. Dineshkanthan Thangarajah (Sri Lanka), the wild card entrant did better in comparison to fourth seed Biles Bugby (Great Britain) 7-6(4), 6-2.

 

 

Miles Bugby and Thangarajah kept giving tough challenge to each other in the first set. Thangarajah could overcome Miles Bugby in a tie breaker 7-6(4).

The twelfth seed Arun Prakash Rajagopalan (Ind) defeated Chandril Sood (Ind) by 6-3, 6-2.

Jordi Munoz Abreu (Spain) crushed sixth seed Danilar Duldaev (KGZ) in straight sets to secure a berth in the main draw.

 

Vijay Kannan (Ind), seeded eleven, and Kunal Anand (Ind) seeded seven both proved hard for each other with fortune favoring Vijay Kannan who won the battle in three sets 6-2, 4-6, 6-1.

 

In the last match of the day between Matthiew Vierin (Italy), eighth seed, and Motoaki Kita (Japan), fourteenth seed, both of them gave tough challenge and was well contested and Motoaki Kita set up a blistering pace as he wrapped up the first game 3-6 but ultimately Vierin Matthiew took a good turn as he won the second game 6-4.the third set was in the court of Motoaki Kita going down tamely 6-2.

 

Having finished the singles qualifiers, three Indians, and player each from Switzerland Taiwan, Sri Lanka, Spain and Italy have made it to the main draw, along with Vivek Shokeen of India made it on account of the withdrawal of second seed Vijayant Malik (Ind).

 

Ranjeet Singh, Sidharth Rawat, and Abhijeet Tiwari from India and J Santos Los from Malaysia are the four wild card entrants in the main draw. The main draw consists of 32 players with having 16 doubles pairs, including 9 from India.
