Delhi restrict Punjab to 216 for 6 in Col CK Nayudu Trophy

Chandigarh: Winning the toss and opting to field Delhi were able to restrict Punjab to 216 for 6 at the end of first day’s play at GMSSS Sector-26 Chandigarh. 

Punjab opened with Prabhjot Singh and Sunny Pandey and made a cautious start. Punjab received  first setback when their inform opener Sunny Pandey guided an out swinger of Droan Chhabra to the safe hands of first slip fielder Bhandari with his individual score of five and team’s total reading 11 for 1 in 4.4 overs.

Reducing Punjab to 182 for 4 in 71.5 overs.  Punjab was dealt a serious blow by left arm spinner Vikas Mishra when he trapped the batsman in front of the wicket for 73 off 197 balls inclusive of seven boundaries and one six. Punjab were 182 for 5 at this stage.  Medium pacer Droan Chhabra dealt another blow to Punjab batting when he cleaned up wicket keeper Anmol Malhotra for six at close of play Nikhil Chaudhary unbeaten 35 off 61 balls with five boundaries and skipper Karan Kaila unbeaten three were at the crease when stumps were drawn for the day.

For Delhi Droan Chhabra  2 for 34, Vikas Mishra 2 for 44 and shivam Sharma 1 for 64 were the successful bowlers.
