Bangalore, Hyderabad claim final spots at theToyota IGU NHS National Golf Challenge

Bangalore: After an intense day of competition at the scenic Eagleton Golf Course in Bangalore, Adarsh Bangalore Golf Club and Tourism Malaysia Boulder Hills Golf and Country Club, Hyderabad edged out the other top golf clubs from across Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mysore and Coimbatore to secure the final two spots at the Toyota IGU NHS National Golf Challenge to be played at the Classic Golf Resort, Gurgaon on 12th April, 2014.

The two teams to represent the South Zone at the National Golf Challenge were selected on the basis of the best of five individual nett scores, per club, calculated under the stableford format. Adarsh Bangalore Golf Club, ended at the top of the table with a winning score of 175 points, with Naresh P(Handicap 16) being the highest scorer on the team with a Nett Score of 39.

With the Bangalore Team securing the first of two available berths for the South Zone, they were joined by Tourism Malaysia Boulder Hills Golf and Country Club, Hyderabad who closed the day on a total score of 168, which included impressive plays by Ashok Reddy (Handicap 14) and Mr. Deepak Gullapalli (Handicap 24) who were tied for top spots on their team with a Nett Score of 36 points calculated under the stableford format.

Commenting on the opportunity to represent the South Zone at the IGU NHS National Golf Challenge, Captain of the winning team, Shiva Pradeep said "It is a matter of pride and accomplishment to be representing our club at a national level tournament. I am really hoping that each one of us, individually and as a team, can make our performances count and emerge victorious on the national stage".

Teeing off a handicap of 2, the highest scorer of the day was Mr. Vashista Pawar who scored 34 points, while representing the Etios Liva Coimbatore Golf Club. Adding another feather to Coimbotore Golf Club's cap was fellow club-mate Mr. Arun Alagar, who took home the trophy for the Votary Tech Longest Drive by driving the ball to a distance of 326 yards on the sixth hole.

Adarsh Bangalore Golf Club and Tourism Malaysia Boulder Hills Golf and Country Club will now face Camry Tollygunge Club and Greentech City Royal Calcutta Golf Club, from the East Zone; Prius Oxford Golf and Country Club and Indian Terrain Kensville Golf Resort from the West Zone; Land Cruiser Noida Golf Course and Forturner Lucknow Golf Club from the North Zone; alongside two teams representing the Indian Army for the honor of winning the premier IGU National Club Challenge.
