Punjab win 3rd All India U-19 Dhruv Pandove Trophy

Patiala: Punjab won the 3rd All India Under 19 Dhruv Pandove Trophy by virtue of their first innings lead of 105 runs against Rajasthan here on Sunday.

Rajasthan, continuing from 225 for 5 overnight, went on to declare their 2nd innings closed at 278 for 8. Manender 27 and C.K. Chundawat 35 were the contributors with the bat. For Punjab Sandeep Singh 4 for 137 was the most successful wicket taker. Rajasthan were set a target of 192 runs.

Punjab lost their opener, Prabhjot Singh, with one run on board and after that Punjab’s perfelic scorer Anmolpreet Singh was caught by Manender off the bowling of Nathu Singh for 13 reducing Punjab to 32 for 2.

Thereafter, Shivam Bhambari 50 not out off 71 balls with 7 boundaries and unbeaten 25 of Navneet Singh off 46 balls with 5 boundaries put on unbroken stand of 65 runs for the 3rd wicket before the play was stopped as no result was possible.

Dr. J.R. Sachdeva, President Patiala Cricket Association gave away the Winners Trophy and a Cheque of Rs. 1.00 lac to Punjab Under-19 Team and a Cheque of Rs. 50,000/- with runners up trophy to Rajasthan Under-19 team.

Nathu singh for his brilliant bowling performance was named man of the match. Anmolpreet Singh of Punjab was declared the best batsman of the tournament for scoring 405 runs including a century and a double century.

Karan Kaila of Punjab with a haul of 20 wickets was declared the best bowler of the tournament and best all rounder award was claimed by K.G. Bishta his all round performance.

Punjab 2nd Innings: 97 for 2 in 25 overs (Shivam Bhambri 50 not out and Navneet Singh 25 not out).
