Chandigarh, Patiala, Mohali and Jalandhar draw a blank in Dhruv Pandove Trophy

Chandigarh: Chandigarh and Patiala went without a point as the two teams could not complete the first innings.  Resuming at overnight 300 for 7 in 96 over, Patiala continued their innings in the morning and were bowled out for 322 in 101.1 overs.  Abhilash Sharma took two of the three wickets that fell this morning.

Replying Chandigarh could reach 192 for 5 in 76 overs. Chandigarh opened with Jaskaranveer Singh and Bhagminder Singh and the duo put on 60 runs for the first wicket in 16 overs before Bhagminder was cleaned up by Karan Kaila for 20 off 50 balls inclusive of three boundaries. 

Thereafter Jaskaranveer Singh and Simranpreet Singh added 45 runs for the 2nd wicket before Jaskaranveer Singh was caught by Harkirat Singh off Karan Kaila after compiling a sedate half century (54) off 94 balls inclusive of 9 boundaries. Simranpreet Singh also went on to complete his half century (56) off 179 balls studded with 7 boundaries before being caught by Prabhjot off Karan Kaila. Karan Kaila bowled unchanged from one end to return the flattering figures of 29-13-40-4.  As the first innings could not be completed both teams failed to garner any point.

In the 2nd match Amritsar defeated Ludhiana on first innings and got 3 points. Resuming at overnight 32 for 3 in 17 overs Ludhiana were bowled out for 101 in 46 overs. Left arm spinner Vinay Chaudhary wove a web around Ludhiana batsmen as they floundered and perished in wake of some incisive spin bowling. Sandeep Singh was the lone batsman to offer some symbolic resistance as he plundered unbeaten 43 off 37 balls studded with 7 boundaries. Vinay Chaudhary returned the flattering figures of 19-9-20-7. He was ably supported by medium pacer Sunny 3 for 47.

Following on Ludhiana were 182 for 8 in 76 overs at close of 2nd days play. Sunny Pandey 53 off 120 balls with 10 boundaries was associated in 48 runs stand for the first wicket with Nimit Malhan. Sandeep Singh who batted with lot of flourish in the first innings carried his form into the second as he blasted unbeaten 60 off 88 balls inclusive of 7 boundaries. Vinay Chaudhary 3 for 54, Jatin Rana  2 for 37 and Rahul Kanojia 2 for 34 were the main wicket takers for Amritsar.

The 3rd match played at Burlton Park Jalandhar between Mohali and Jalandhar ended without the first innings being completed. Both teams failed to secure a point. Resuming at 242 for 4 in 98 overs. Mohali were bowled out for 350 in 126.4 overs. Pukhraj  57, Abhijit  47 not out, Manan Jain 67 Kinderpreet 43 and Maninder  48 were the principal run getters for Mohali. The bowling honours were shared by Arun 3 for 35, Karan Bhargav 3 for 100 and Kamaljot Singh  3 for 111.

Replying Jalandhar scored 161 for 3 in 56 overs at close of 2nd days play. Mansab Gill 39 off 52 balls with 8 boundaries Rajat 50 off 65 balls with 8 boundaries were the main run getters for Jalandhar,  Mehnaz 1 for 39, Gurkirtan  1 for 39 shone with the ball for Mohali.
