New Delhi: Akash Wagh won both his singles and doubles matches to help Maharashtra defeat Chhattisgarh 2-1 in a Pool ‘B' league match of the National inter-State tennis championship at the DLTA Complex, on Tuesday.
With its second win in the group, Maharashtra qualified for the quarterfinals.
Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka also confirmed their quarterfinal berths and joined Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, which had already made the cut on the opening day itself.
Nagaland was well served by Kenezouto Whourie and Vilasier Khate as it made a 3-0 start against eight seed West Bengal. It will now meet Mizoram on Wednesday for a berth in the quarterfinals.
Delhi complicated its position as it lost 1-2 to Gujarat, after having beaten Tripura 3-0.
