B.N Railways proceed towards semi-finals

Kozhikode: The boys from B.N. Railway moved into the semifinals of the E.K. Nayanar Gold Cup all-India football tournament at the Corporation Stadium on Thursday. The Kolkatan’s beat MEG, Bangalore by 1-0 with Pratim Sarkar scoring in the 57th minute.

With the win, the Kolkatans finished with four points in Group II, which has already been won by Air India. MEG, with three points, and Kerala XI (one) ended up third and fourth respectively.

MEG, which had outclassed Kerala XI 5-3 in its last match, began confidently. With Nguernilal Hmar and V. Ramu, who between them had scored all the goals in the win against the local side, looking in good touch and Lokeshswar Singh too making some promising moves, MEG seemed the favourite to take the semifinal spot.
