IPL-Bangalore vs Punjab: The duds and the dudes from Match No. 63

kohli100Royal Challengers Bangalore were done and dusted in their den as Adam Gilchrist and Azhar Mahmood played brilliantly to help Kings XI Punjab beat the hosts by seven wickets at the Chinnaswamy Stadium here on Tuesday. Gilchrist scored 85 runs off 54 balls whereas Mahmood contributed 61 runs off 48 balls that he faced. Earlier Chris Gayle set up the match beautifully for RCB as he went on to score 77 runs off 53 balls. Virat Kohli too scored 57 runs off 43 balls.

HITS

Adam Gilchrist: Gilchrist played a magnificent innings as Kings XI stunned RCB for the second time in this edition of IPL. Gilchrist scored 85 runs off 54 balls which were studded with 10 fours and three sixes. He kept taking the aerial routes whenever he got a loose ball and kept the chase in s sight.

Parwinder Awana: Awana bowled brilliantly as he gave initial breakthroughs by getting Chetashwar Pujara out in the beginning. He also took the wicket of dangerous Chris Gayle in his final over. He ended up with the figures of 3/39.

Chris Gayle: Gayle scored yet another half-century but it was Parwinder Awana who dismantled him before he could do further damage. He smacked 77 runs off 53 balls and stayed till the penultimate over which created immense pressure on Punjab.

Azhar Mahmood: Mahmood was brilliant with the ball as well as with the bat. He scored 61 runs off 41 balls and also chipped in with couple of wickets which made it difficult for the bowlers in the middle. He smoked away eight fours and one six in his brilliant knock.

Virat Kohli: Kohli scored 57 runs off 43 balls and gave his side a much-needed stability in the mid-overs. He took the toll on the loose deliveries bowled to him and was looking in aggressive mode.


FLOPS

AB De Villiers:
De Villiers couldn’t do much with the bat and departed after scoring just six runs. His presence at the crease could have created ample amount of difference but he was uprooted by Awana.

Manpreet Gony: Gony was thrashed quite mercilessly by Gayle and Kohli as he gave away 47 runs in his four overs. He was finding it hard to bowl against the explosive duo.

Muttiah Muralitharan: Muralitharan had a bad time against Mahmood and Gilchrist who smacked him for 44 runs in his four overs. He did take the wicket of David Miller with gem of a delivery.

Shaun Marsh: Marsh has been quite inconsistent this season and against RCB he was no different. He departed after scoring eight runs off four balls and it was Zaheer Khan who got him out.

David Miller: Miller couldn't do much as he was caught in the spin web of Muralitharan. He was dismissed for just two runs off four balls.

Moises Henriques: Henriques was thrashed all over the park in his 2.1 overs. He gave away 29 runs in his spell and was not bowling in the right channel throughout the match.
