Tau Devilal Sports Complex, the multi facility sports hub, located in Gurgaon is home to many zero-level sports person related to a wide range of games. From football, cricket to basketball, athletics, volleyball, wrestling and boxing, a lot of games are played here under shabby arrangements.
Although, everything has changed in last few days; players are no more around and the arrangements are turning into world class ones. Reason is the Golden Jubilee celebration of Haryana state’s formation. Haryana Day will be celebrated here on November 1 in the presence of PM Narendra Modi, Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar and many other dignitaries. To show them the efficiency and hard work of HUDA (Haryana Urban Development Authority) and Sports Development Authority, bureaucrats are busy polishing every grain of the complex.
Security has been tightened, any unauthorised entry is restricted and even players are not allowed to practice inside. A large number of players have been displaced. Boxers and athletes have the nearby Nehru stadium as their second spot. Footballers have found a school’s playground; and while the cricketers are on full holiday since the last 20 days, what happened to the basketball players is still unknown.
The cultural celebration and a bit of politics have encroached upon the interest of players. But players have no complaints. Some of them are happy because Narendra Modi is in their city. Some are happy to see the war scale repairs, beautification and improvement in their sports abode. Footballers said that the grass is freshly grown and the stands are being repaired, plastered and painted. New nets have been installed in goal posts. They said that the Prime Minister should visit more often; at least once in a couple of years. They can manage practicing at some other place for few days, but playing at stadium without net in the goalposts is a bit difficult.
