English Premier League: The title race hots up

Welbeck ArsenalWelbeck And Spurs Open Up The Race
After Welbeck scored a last-minute winner for the Gunners against the Foxes and Spurs beat Man City later on that day at Eithad, the EPL title race had become very much open as three of the teams involved in those matches are separated by two points. With just 12 matches remaining this season , the race for the trophy is more intense than ever in the past few years. All the four teams in the fray has their own pros and cons in their bid for the title.

Leicester City - The Foxes Are Still Flying
When Leicester City were at the top, many had predicted them to fall away but they didn't. They are the Dark Horses in the race. Their major plus point is that they don't have any other distractions as they are out of other competitions. But the two major problems in their title quest are that they lack the experience which will be vital in the under pressure situations towards the end and any injuries to either Vardy or Mahrez will affect their chances. So if look at that their chances it will be difficult to predict where they would finish, but given their hard work on and off the field, determination and team spirit, it seems they would finish with top three.

Spurs - They Still In It
At the start of the season no one even the Spurs would have thought that they would lose only three matches after 26 games. It’s their defence which has kept them in the race as they have conceded the fewest number goals in the league so far. However, they will be playing in the Europa League and with their manager stating that they want to go deep in the Europa means it might affect them towards the end.

Arsenal – It’s their Year Finally?
These guys are in the mix right from the start and with last title coming in 2003-2004 season, there is air of desperation around them. If we look at the strengths, it is obviously their attacking power with the likes of Ozil, Sanchez, Giroud, etc. There are two concerns for the fans. One is the mental strength of the Gunners. But if we look at the performances of these guys against the top four, it is very clear that they finally seem to have overcome the mental block. The other thing which is most likely going to decide their season is how their mindset will be after playing against Barcelona in the CL tie. If their confidence gets shattered, then it could be all over, otherwise they may be well on their way to their first EPL title in the last 10 years.
