Yet again another time of the year, when hopes are high and expectations, well..with India the word expectations have always have had a different meaning, any which way.
In the last Tri-series Down Under, India were quite a poor show, but it is rather very difficult to say whether the Men-In-Blue would continue to perform dismally in the ACC Asia Cup. I personally some how feel India may play in a disjoint fashion yet again in the series, that’s because first lets admit it, there is just too much curry in terms of the kind of gigantic criticism the team and it’s captain has attained.
MS Dhoni is probably not only handling a team of indifferent or saddened people, but he is also handling the media, the crowd and not to forget the BCCI. Amidst all the chaos and the cosmos, if the team is required to perform, that becomes quite a task. Though the team has reiterated that they have nothing to do with the “rifts” that the media is talking about, well we all kind of know the picture.
The other bow to the team is the retirement of Rahul Dravid from international cricket. Though the legend’s role in shorter format of the game had almost diminished over a couple of years, he saying goodbye to international cricket amid severe criticism over the failure of seniors Down Under will play heavily in the mind of the seniors as failure on sub-continent wickets will again call of the demands of the other seniors’ heads. And this pressure of performing might lead to the failure of the Indian team.
And last but not the least, we Indians no matter what we preach, we quite like to do things the other way. We have already piled up immense pressure on the poor lads for them to even breathe. So, basically these entire reasons sum up to an answer that maybe the team may fall again, but that doesn’t any where mean that I wouldn’t want the team to perform, no offense, but the team needs a real break!
