Patience: Mother of all virtues

Well the incident which I am going to narrate out of my memory closet occurred during my school days. I was in class 10 and the national selector’s team had come to Sansarpur High School for selection. As ill luck would have it, I was not selected for national team and was depressed out of my wits. But I did not allow this incident to demoralise me. I did not lose patience and tried to figure out the shortcomings for which I was not selected. I started working on my weaknesses and used to practice rigorously. I can''t say I became perfect but went somewhat close to it.

And finally the day came when my hard work paid off. I got the call of my life, and was picked up for the national squad in 2005, thanks to the then Indian hockey coach Rajinder Singh. I was selected in the team which was going to Malaysia to play the coveted Azlan Shah Trophy. It was the very tough moment of my life, Bu that incident changed my life.

Today everyone knows me for what I am and it makes me feel very happy and proud. My run up to this selection process taught a lesson. We need to carry on with our duty no matter what and the day will come when we would the right chord. So we need to carry on with our work with utmost dedication and never rush with things. And one more thing never lose your confidence, patience and always respect seniors and teachers.
By now I have played for some of the big names as far as hockey is concerned, which includes Punjab and Sind Bank and Bharat Petroleum. I have also represented Chandigarh Dynamos in the Premier Hockey League.
