Last ball six is still fresh in my mind…

I have played a lot of cricket when I was in school. And it was one of the practice matches when our team successfully chased 98 runs in just 10 overs, that’s still fresh in my mind.

I was in “Team A” and our opponent Team was named “Team B”. They won the toss and scored 97 runs in 10 overs, Now, it was our turn to prove ourselves and win the match because, team B was already in a lead of 1-0 in the three-match practice series.

Our hopes were on our two opener batsmen, Navjot & Shekhar. They put up a good partnership and made 66 runs of just 6 overs. At that point, we were smelling our victory. But Anil from Team B bowled extremely well and took 4 wickets in a row. Suddenly our team went on the back foot. I was at the crease with my team mate Vijay (lower Order batsman), and the equation was - 15 runs needed of just 8 balls with 3 wickets in hand. Somehow, we managed to play very patiently and changed the equation. It was now, 6 runs needed of 3 deliveries when Vijay gave a single to me. The equation came to 5 runs of 2 balls. Sunil from Team B was at the bowling end. I was getting nervous as I had never faced such a situation before. Due to nervousness, I missed the golden ball and it went directly to wicketkeeper’s hand.

Now, now, now, we needed 5 Runs of the final delivery. I was enormously nervous again as everything was dependent on me at that time. Sunil was coming with the ball and when Sunil released the ball from his hand I hit the ball with a Bang! A big shot. The ball went on for a six and we won the thrilling match. This was the most remarkable and memorable match of my career.
