We need more exposure to compete at highest level: Geethu Anna JoseGeethu Anna Jose, who hails from Kerala, is an Indian basketball player and has led the Indian Women's National basketball team on number of occasions. She was spotted by the Southern Railway basketball team. She was also the first Indian player to play for an Australian Club as a professional. In conversation with Ronisha Bhattacharyya of Indian Sports News, Geethu talks about the game, basketball league in Australia and many more. EXCERPTS:

ISN: You played in the Australian League. What is the main difference between playing in an international league and that playing in India?
Geethu:
The Aussie league just has one defender; however the national league here has two or three defenders. So the playing technique is different.

ISN: This is a slightly off beat question; we have heard that you had been approached by a producer for a movie? Are these rumours true?
Geethu:
Oh yes, a Tamil movie maker did approach me a while back, but nothing actually has happened. Yes I was approached, but rest everything is stalled.

ISN: What do you think about the Indian basketball scene? What do you think we should do to get through international events like Olympics?
Geethu:
I think personally that to play in different leagues and to get through to international events like Olympics, we need to practice better, go out and play and also exposure plays a very important role. We need to get enough exposure.

ISN: You have been called a pretty face on the court umpteen numbers of times. How do you handle when people start concentrating on the person more than the game?
Geethu:
I think as far as I am concerned, it is a good factor. If through my popularity people are getting drawn to the game and are actually following it, what else could I have wanted? In a way I am promoting the game and it is a good thing.
