Azhar Mahmood was the star who setup the match beautifully as he smashed 80 runs and was complimented well by Shaun Marsh, who scored 63 runs. Later, it was some terrific bowling from Praveen Kumar and Piyush Chawla which handed over this victory to Kings XI.

HITS

Azhar Mahmood: Mahmood played a splendid knock as he went onto score 80 runs off just 44 balls. He smacked eight fours and four sixes in his brilliant innings and made sure that his team takes an upper hand in this match. He was sensational with the ball too as he ended up picking couple of wickets and gave away just 24 runs.


Lasith Malinga: Malinga was smacked for 20 runs in first over but he came back well and picked up three wickets in his last two overs. He ended up with the figures of 3/39 in his four overs.


Shaun Marsh: Marsh played another sensational knock as he scored 63 runs off 47 balls. He smashed 11 fours and took the charge on each and every bowler of Mumbai Indians.


Manan Vohra: Vohra was terrific with the bat as he scored 20 runs off just 8 balls. He took the score of Kings XI to 185 with his powerful batting in the death overs.


Rishi Dhawan: Dhawan had a dream debut as he picked up the wicket of Mandeep Singh in his very first over. He ended up with the figures of 1/26 and also bowled a maiden over in the initial phase of the match.


Piyush Chawla: Chawla was sensational with the ball as he ended up with the figures of 2/20 after his four overs. He picked up the wicket of Rohit Sharma and Dinesh Karthik in mid-overs which pushed them on the back foot.


Praveen Kumar: He was bowled brilliantly as he gave the early blow by getting Maxwell out and ended up with the figures of 1/15 in his three overs.


FLOPS


Glenn Maxwell: Maxwell departed off the third ball that he faced of Praveen Kumar. He was tempted by the length ball but couldn’t find the middle of the bat and was caught at third-man. He was smashed for 18 runs in the only over that he bowled in the match.


Harbhajan Singh: Harbhajan got smashed for 33 runs in his four overs. He conceded three fours and one six during his spell but he did some smart work by balling a flatter trajectory to Shaun Marsh and ended his brilliant run with the bat.


Adam Gilchrist: Gilchrist departed quite early as he got out after scoring just five runs off seven balls. He was dismissed by debutant NM Coulter-Nile. He did pick up the wicket of Harbhajan as he bowled his first and last ball of the IPL history.


Keiron Pollard: Pollard once again disappointed his fans as he got smacked for 22 runs in his two overs. He took 21 balls to score 22 runs which was surely a below par performance from him.


Mandeep Singh: Mandeep once again failed to fire and was dismissed by Rishi who bowled well to get him out. He contributed just one run to the team total.


Dinesh Karthik: Karthik departed for a duck as Piyush Chawla bowled a tossed up delivery which he hit it straight back into Chawla’s hands.

David Miller: Miller didn’t have a good time with the bat as he departed after scoring just six runs. He was caught at long-on and Pollard was the one who got his wicket.
