It's an honor to captain Mahela and KP: Sehwag

I feel honor to captain Mahela and KP: SehwagNew Delhi: Delhi Daredevils will face defending champions Chennai Super Kings in their first home match here on Tuesday. Delhi’s captain Virender Sehwag is delighted that his two star international players, Mahela Jayawardene and Kevin Pietersen, have joined the team. Both the players are expected to play in tomorrow’s match and that will provide strength to the depleted Delhi’s batting line-up.

“I am very happy that Mahela and KP have joined our team and it will give a boost to the rest of the players. We have been playing well so far, and with these two players in the side we expect to play even better”, said Sehwag.

On captaining the two players, Sehwag said, “It is an honour for me to captain these two experienced cricketers. All the young boys can look up to these two players and can learn so much from them.

Mahela Jayawardene, who played brilliantly in the recently concluded England series, said, “I am looking forward to play in tomorrow’s match. Delhi have been a very competitive team in all the IPLs and it feels great that I am a part of this team.”

On his role in the team, the elegant right-hander said, “I know that there will be a lot of responsibility on me and Kevin as we have played a lot of cricket. I will look to perform to my ability and will look to guide the youngsters.”

Kevin Pietersen who scored a terrific hundred in England’s win over Sri Lanka said, “It is a great privilege to play for the Daredevils. I have played against Delhi in Kotla and I can tell you that the crowd here is intimidating. It will be a welcome change for me to see the crowd cheering for me this time.”

On playing with Mahela, he said, “It is very interesting as only a few days ago we were rivals on the field and now we will play together. Mahela is a great batsman and I look forward to bat with him. This is one of the most interesting things about IPL that it gives players from different teams to play with each other.”
