Sehwag holds the key to change Daredevil's fortunes

Virender sehwagWith Delhi Daredevils taking on Kolkata Knight Riders in their inaugural match of the Indian Premier League Season V, all eyes would be on Daredevils swashbuckling skipper Virender Sehwag. After the selected committee apparently rested him for the Asia Cup and one off T20 in South Africa last month, he would all itching out to go there in the centre and show it to everyone that he is fit and rightfully still the best bet for the Indian Team when it comes down to selecting the openers.

He would be eyeing resurrection and only if anyone has followed his career, would know that it just takes him an innings to drastically change things around and if he gets it right in the first match of the season then there would be hardly any bowling attack in IPL that could combat his pandemonium.

Sehwag has over the years has made significant contributions to the Indian Team and even though it is said that he has the habit of throwing away his wicket, he still is a prized scalp and if any team can get him out for cheap, they know that half the job is done.

Now let us go through some points as to what makes him a man to watch out for in the IPL season V.

He has been out of the Indian Team and going by the present quality of the team, it is very difficult for a player to make a comeback owing the bench strength. So Sehwag would have it at the back of his mind. What platform can be more ideal than IPL which just suits his style of play. And also through his performance he would keep the selectors in the loop and could send constant signal to the selectors that he is still and has long time to go before he gets written off.

Unlike earlier editions, Delhi this time has enough firepower when it comes to batting. They have some of the best players of T20 such as Kevin Peiterson, Mahela Jayawardene, David Warner amongst others. So he can just go out there and play his natural game without taking much pressure unlike last time where he was caught in two minds whether to play as an anchor or just go with the shots. Also the fact that Jayawardene and Peiterson have the experience of captaining their national side would reduce his burden when it comes down to captaincy which would take pressure off him and he can play more freely.

He also looks much more relaxed and calm and this time around he is more determined to perform well. And if it does work for him, then he single handedly win the title for his team.
