Mumbai: The Board of Control for Cricket in India in all likelihood would vouch against the new experimental rule of using two new white balls from either end of the ground in ODIs during the International Cricket Council’s meeting in January next year, according to board official.
According to a BCCI source it is a rule which is under trial. Earlier in the month of Spetember all the sub-continental teams had expressed their displeasure about the rule and had opposed it. There is suppose to be a meeting in the month of January where BCCI is set to oppose it again.
BCCI is more concerned about the kind of advantage it will give to the overseas teams and it is a rule which will make the spinners ineffective in the shorter version of the game.
The Indian board had expressed its reservation on the rule in September at the ICC Chief Executives meeting.
The countries in favour of such a rule were Australia, New Zealand and England while West Indies and South Africa abstained from voting.
For any change in the existing rule, a two-third majority vote is required under the ICC constitution.
