Kolkata: BCCI and Cricket South Africa have to clear out the differences between them or else the India’s tour of South Africa might be scrapped. According to the recent reports, BCCI wants to take a firm stand if Cricket South Africa's new CEO Haroon Lorgat does not apologises for what he did with the Indian Board during his tenure as ICC Chief Executive.
BCCI’s interim president Jagmohan Dalmiya has already made it quite clear that if Lorgat apologises then it would be great so that they can simply bury the hatchet and move on. Also, BCCI has made it quite clear that if South Africa doesn’t agree for the short tour of India of just two Tests and three ODI’s then they might leave the idea of touring their country and instead give a nod to the Test series against Pakistan or Sri Lanka which have been in the pipeline from quite a sometime.
In case, India gives a cold shoulder to this tour, then Cricket South Africa (CSA) will be in a great financial trouble. They might end up losing close to 2.5 million rand a day in revenue even if the tour is shortened. This major blow is going to come from the TV Broadcast rights. To make the matters worse, CSA can't even go to the court regarding this matter.
According to the previous schedule, India’s tour was supposed to be of seven ODI’s, three Tests and couple of T20 internationals between November 18 and January 25. But the thing that was worth noticing was that neither BCCI gave it a nod not it ruled out the possibility of this tour.
But India’s decision of welcoming West Indies to play for two Tests and three ODI’s might raise some eyebrows as the South Africa tour has been the burning topic since the start of this year. Apart from that, Indian Board has also confirmed that Indian team will be touring to New Zealand next year in the month of January where they will be playing couple of Tests and three ODI’s.
