CLT20 to kick off without Faisalabad Wolves

New Delhi: Faisalabad Wolves earned a spot in the qualifiers of the upcoming Champions League T20 tournament scheduled to be played this month. But their chances to participate in the tournament took a major blow as the Indian government has refused to give visas to Pakistan's domestic T20 champions.

While the news can be as sad as it can possibly get for any cricket lover but the fact to the matter is that the relations between the two countries have hit a new low after the series of seize-fire violations in the Line Of Control.

While it can be argued that sports and politics should not be mixed but one cannot expect to have normal relations in a situation where both countries are locking horns in the Line Of Control every passing day.

The government of India have indicated security worries as the main reason for refusing visas to the Wolves, who were to be led by Pakistan's national skipper Misbah-ul-Haq.

While this is not the only case where a Pakistani team have been denied visas to visit India, sources say that the Pakistani zaireen who were to participate in Amir Khusro related festivities in India have also been denied visas.

The bilateral ties in cricket between both the countries have been stopped for quite some time and it is most likely to remain the same if the relations do not improve in the near future which does not look like in the recent scenario.

The Champions League is set to kick off in the month of September with Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals, Chennai Super Kings, Perth Scorchers, Trinidad and Tobago, Titans, Highveld Lions and Brisbane Heat, teams which have earned a direct entry to the tournament.

The qualifiers of the tournamnet is scheduled to begin on the 17th of September at Mohali with Sunrisers Hyderabad also looking for a spot in the tournament. The league matches will commence from the 21st of September with Rajasthan Royals taking on the Mumbai Indians.
