The swashbuckling left-hander who has been out of favour in the recent times has been given a lifeline by the selectors as they named him as the captain of the India 'A' squad that is suppose to take on West Indies 'A' starting this Sunday.
Yuvraj Singh, who was dropped from the Indian squad after a terrible IPL where he failed to come up with the goods both with the bat and ball, has been training hard to get back in shape and was seen spending time in the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore ahead of the match against West Indies 'A'.
Yuvraj almost spent the entire day in the indoors at the NCA before deciding to put on his pads and hit the nets where he batted for almost 20 mins and then decided to go back to train in the indoors.
On the other hand the West Indies 'A' team have already arrived in India on Thursday and held a practice session in the morning on Friday. Veerasammy Permaul who hasbeen named as the vice-captain of the West Indian squad did not arrive with the team and is expected to come on Saturday just before the series kicks off between the two sides.
The series comprises of three four day matches, three limited over matches and one T20 match. M Chinnaswamy Stadium is all set to host the one-day matches and the T20 match while the four day matches will be held in Mysore, Shimoga and Hubli.
Yuvraj Singh is the not the only one to make a comeback. Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir have also been named in the squad along with Zaheer Khan. This might turn out to be the make or break series for the seniors to make an impact before the tour of South Africa later this year.
