New delhi: The Football Development Foundation (Regional Council—Sikkim Unit) project, which is aligned internationally, is completely dedicated to the promotion of sports in general and football in particular at the grassroots level.

Children and youth of various age groups have been targeted to be the initial beneficiaries of this unique project. Regional Councils with Advisory Councils will be formed, consisting of sports persons and promoters, who are totally committed to the promotion of sports.

The project will take the support and assistance of the respective sports federations and associations at the state, national and International level.

Eminent personalities from such bodies will be taken on board to provide guidance and motivation to the project by sharing their invaluable experience, expertise, knowledge and wisdom. The Regional Councils will be empowered to empanel educational and other related institutions, who follow the guidelines and implement plans of the Regional Councils, from time to time.

The coaches and trainers of the enlisted educational Institutions will be entitled for training in the workshops and seminars under experts, as the project plans to train players in the age groups of 10-12, 12-14, 14-16 and 16-18.

Finally, a special group in the age group of 18-21 years will be formed with a specific purpose of grooming them for bigger events. The performance of the players and coaches will be monitored through an effective mechanism and tournaments will be held at various levels to help them graduate into the next level. This project will be financially self-reliant as the National Council of the PSMD has a fool-proof plan in place.
