Cricket can play an important role in Indo-Pak peace process: Shahryar Khan

Cricketing ties between Pakistan and other countries can resume only if terrorism takes a backseat in the country, says ex-chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board, Shahryar Khan. According to Shahryar Khan, cricket is the thing that unites his countrymen more than any other thing.

According to media reports, Khan believes that the issue of terrorism in Pakistan is not going to do help PCB and and it would take a few more years before cricketing nations start touring touring the country for cricketing ties. He stressed on the fact that India can play a huge role as cricket is equally followed here and if the cricketing ties improve between these two nations, then many other teams would also be making that brave move of coming to Pakistan.

It must be metioned here that since the attacks on Sri Lankan Cricket team in 2009 at Lahore, all the cricketing boards and teams are afraid of making a tour to Pakistan. That fatal attack on team bus of Sri Lanka saw their seven players getting injured and more importantly eight people were are also killed in that tragic incident.

However, PCB is leaving no stone unturned to seek the revival of cricket in the country. Though, Pakistan has been hosting the games on the neutral venues like Abu Dhabi and Dubai, Khan believes that PCB should start inviting the U-19 and U-21 teams of sub-continent to make this recovery a quick one.
