Shillong Lajong FC sign Cameroon striker Charles EdoaNga

New Delhi: Cameroon International Charles EdoaNga has joined ShillongLajong Football Club for the 2013/14 season.

Edoa Nga joins Shillong Lajong FC from 2012 MTN Elite One Champions of Cameroon, Union Douala.

A powerful 23-year-old striker, who is comfortable playing on either flank or down the centre, Edoa Nga has represented Cameroon at the U-17 and U-20 levels, and began his club career in the third division of Cameroon football with Cintra FC de Yaoundé.

In a span of two years after joining top division club Union Douala in 2009, he helped the team finish seventh in the league before winning the MTN Elite One title in 2012. EdoaNga was part of Union Douala’s team in the CAF Confederations Cup in 2009 and 2012.

Shillong Lajong General Secretary Larsing Ming Sawyan said, “Charles is a great signing for the club, and my gratitude goes to Libero Sports for bringing us a quality player. He is a player with solid experience at club and international level with Cameroon and we believe he will add significant quality to our squad this coming season.”

Edoa Nga, a full international for the Cameroon B team, said, “I am very happy, and looking forward to joining Shillong Lajong. In my opinion, Lajong are one of the few clubs in India who have a really huge fan base. So my main focus is to go there, play well for the team, and bring joy to the fans because I know how much they love their club and their football.”

FIFA Licensed Agent and Libero Sports Partner Arvind Narayan, who represented Edoa Nga in the transfer, said, “Edoa Nga is a young, powerful and pacystriker with a sharp nose for goal.
