The ICC has confirmed that the Event Technical Committee of the ICC Champions Trophy 2013 has approved Corey Anderson as a replacement player for Grant Elliott in the New Zealand squad for the tournament.
Elliott exacerbated an injury to his left calf during a training session in Cardiff yesterday. New Zealand’s next match is against England in Cardiff today.
The replacement of a player requires the approval of the Event Technical Committee before the replacement player can be officially added to the squad.
The Event Technical Committee of the ICC Champions Trophy 2013 consists of Geoff Allardice (ICC, chairman), Campbell Jamieson (IDI representative), Steve Elworthy (Tournament Director), Alan Fordham (host representative), David Lloyd (independent nomination) and Sourav Ganguly (independent nomination).
