Match No. 21: Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Delhi Daredevils: Hits and flops

Royal Challengers Bangalore clinched a thriller as they defeated Delhi Daredevils by four runs in the super-over. Ravi Rampaul and AB De Villiers were the stars but it was Virat Kohli and Vinay Kumar who kept the foundation for this sensational win with their impressive performances. DD came very close to outplay RCB as Mahela Jayawardene and Kedar Jadhav batted superbly in the death overs to post a good total of 152 runs on the board. Umesh Yadav was brilliant with the ball but it was poor bowling from Irfan Pathan and Morne Morkel which took the match away from DD.

Here we bring to you the hits and flops from the match:

HITS

Ravi Rampaul: Rampaul did exceedingly well in the super-over as he picked up two wickets and gave away 11 runs. He bowled the last ball of the Super-over a Yorker to ensure that RCB win the thriller. Earlier, he batted quite well to score 13 runs off seven balls to get this match to super-over for RCB.

AB De Villiers: AB De Villiers scored two mind-boggling sixes in the Super-Over and took RCB to the thrilling victory.  Apart from that, De Villiers played a splendid knock of 39 runs off 32 balls. The way he constructed his innings was a treat to watch and kept getting those ones and twos to keep the pressure on fielding side.

Virat Kohli: Kohli has been in splendid form this season and he continued that against DD as he scored  65 runs which consisted seven boundaries and one six. His ability to play as many over as possible is getting the best out of him and that’s making him more confident as a captain.

Vinay Kumar: Vinay was superb with the ball and was bowling in the right channel throughout his four overs. He gave away just 21 runs and picked up one wicket for RCB. He got the early break-through of David Warner, when he was looking to take on RCB bowlers.

Kedar Jadhav: Jadhav once again showed his batting-class by playing a cameo of 29 runs in the death overs. His ability to strike the ball to the boundary makes him a valuable asset down the order for DD. They need to promote him up the order so that he gets more chances to get the big scores.

Umesh Yadav: Yadav bowled first-four deliveries brilliantly in Super Over but his last two went in to the crowds and that tilted the balance in favour of RCB. He gave away 15 runs in that over. Though, his bowling figures were really impressive in the regulation match as he gave away just 22 runs in his four overs for two wickets.

Mahela Jayawardene: He batted well for his 28 runs off 31 balls. If he would have stayed on the crease for more two or three overs, then DD would have posted a huge total on the board. His captaincy was absolutely brilliant especially in the last five overs of the game.

FLOPS

Morne Morkel: He was expected to be the strength of Delhi Daredevils but he had failed to do so. He gave away 32 runs in his four overs and picked up just one wicket for DD. Morkel has to bowl much better than what he is doing otherwise.

Irfan Pathan: He went for plenty in his four overs and was the most expensive bowler for DD. He gave away 40 runs in four overs. Though, he batted well in super over to get 11 runs but there also he messed up by not smacking the easy full-toss for to the boundary.

RP Singh: He had the worst day possible as he went for 48 in his four overs. He bowled terribly throughout his spell and almost all the Delhi batsmen relished his inconsistent line and length.
