It was a treat to watch Sehwag bat from the non-striker's end: Mahela Jayawardene

mahelajayawardenelostthefourthmatchinarowNew Delhi: Virender Sehwag's blistering knock of 95 off 57 balls coupled with a fantastic 59 off 43 balls from skipper Mahela Jayawrdene helped Delhi Daredevils beat Mumbai Indians by nine wickets at Feroze Shah Kotla on Sunday. Having won their frist game in IPL 6, a happy Mahela said that it was a treat to watch Sehwag bat at the other end.

Mahela said that irrespective of the results he had been smiling and today they have managed to open their account. "I was smiling in the last two games as well. The guys have shown plenty of character. Viru batted really well and it was good to watch him bat from the non-striker's end. We can still improve. 161 was a good score and we needed a good start. We needed to set up a platform and we managed to do it," said Jayawardene.

Meanwhile Ricky Ponting was in loss of words to describe the loss: "I'm not sure (what happened there). I thought 161 was going to be a competitive total. Our lines and lengths were way off. They had the momentum in the first six overs.. Sehwag and Mahela were outstanding today. They were too good for us today. The ball didn't swing. It hasn't swung all tournament at this venue that is why we left out Mitchell Johnson. You cna't argue with the balance, but the execution was way off," said Ponting.

Man of the Match Virender Sehwag said that the pep talk with Vivian Richards helped. "You could say the wind favoured Delhi today. We were focused on our training and on our fitness. When I'm batting well, I try to control the match. Viv Richards also spoke about bluffing. He said even if a batsman feels scared inside, he should show that he is confident," said Sehwag.
