IPL- Delhi Daredevils vs Pune Warriors: Hits and flops from Match No. 39

delhi-puneChange of venue changed the fortunes for Delhi Daredevils as they outplayed Pune warriors India by 15 runs in the close contest at Raipur. With some brilliant efforts from David Warner and Virender Sehwag, Delhi Daredevils posted a stiff target of 165 runs for Pune Warriors India. Later some outstanding bowling from Irfan Pathan and Umesh Yadav got them in to the match after Aaron Finch and Robin Uthappa had given Pune a blistering start.

Here we bring to you the hits and flops from the match between Delhi Daredevils (DD) and Pune warriors India (PWI).

HITS

David Warner: Warner played a magnificent knock of 51 runs off just 25 balls. He smashed four sixes and as many fours to take his side to a competitive total of 164. He kept his nerves and waited for the death overs where he tore apart the Pune Warriors bowling.

Kedar Jadhav: Jadhav played a nice little cameo to take his team past 150 in the final overs of the innings. He scored a blistering 25 off just 19 balls which was decorated with two straight sixes.

Ashok Dinda: Dinda was the silver lining for PWI in this match as he picked up three wickets. First he got Mahela Jayawardene and Virender Sehwag out and in the death over he picked up the wicket of Kedar Jadhav. He ended up with the figures of 3/31 in his four overs.

Virender Sehwag: Sehwag was looking good as he was trying to bat for as long as possible. He scored two fours and two sixes in his knock of 28 runs and kept the pressure on the PWI bowlers. He just needs to be bit more aggressive to give his team a much needed start in power-play.

Aaron Finch: Finch started off well with Robin Uthappa and added 76 runs for the opening wicket. He scored 37 runs off 33 balls, including five boundaries till he stayed at the crease. If he would have bated for four to five overs more, PWI would have easily clinched this thriller.

Robin Uthappa: Uthappa looked in good touch with the bat but threw away his wicket after getting a good start. This has been a problem with him but he did fine job as an opener and gave big-hitters of his team a great chance to capitalize on a good start.

Irfan Pathan: Irfan Pathan turned the tables and brought DD back in to the match as he took the wickets Aaron Finch and Robin Uthappa in his third over. He started off with the maiden which was his third maiden over of IPL-6. He ended up the figures of 2/29 in four overs.

Yuvraj Singh: Yuvraj departed after scoring 31 runs off 24 balls. He got out at the very crucial time which took the match away from Pune Warriors and handed them an unexpected defeat. He scored four fours in his knock. He bowled a couple of good overs as he gave away just nine runs.

Umesh Yadav: Yadav spelled his magic as he bowled very smartly in the 18th over. First he got the wicket of Luke Wright by bowling a widish delivery and then it was the priceless wicket of Yuvraj Singh whom he challenged with a short-delivery.

FLOPS

Bhuvneshwar Kumar: Kumar bowled well in initial overs but he lost his line and length in final over which made him go for plenty of runs. He ended up with the bowling figures of 0/30 in four overs.

Morne Morkel: Morkel once again looked off-colour with the ball as he ended up with a figure of 0/36. He was smacked for boundaries in almost every over which is not expected from the seasoned campaigner.

Kane Richardson: Kane Richardson had a disastrous IPL debut as he gave away 38 runs in his four overs. He was missing his line and length in the initial as well as the death overs. Not bowling Yorkers in death overs is a crime in T20 and he did and was punished.

Mahela Jayawardene: Jayawardene again put up the flop show with the bat as he darted after scoring 12 runs. He should lead by example which he is not doing at the moment. He needs to bat with more ease as they have hardly got anything to lose at this stage of the tournament.
