We lost the match in last 10 balls: Mahela Jayawardene

delhidaredevilsversusrajasthanroyalsNew Delhi: Rajasthan Royals came up with an astonishing performance as they beat Delhi Daredevils in their den at Feroze Shah Kotla by five runs to start thgeir IPL Season 6 campaign with a win. Delhi skipper Mahela Jayawardene was once again disappointed to lose the match after having come so close.

Jayawardene said that everything went well for them except the last 10 balls. "We paced our innings well. The wicket was good, the oufield was fast and everything went well except for the last 10 balls. On the field, they did much better than us. It is one of those games in T20, you get close ones. After coming back form injury, Umesh is bowling well. It is tough to bowl in this format. We have to ensure we dont make silly mistakes," said the captain.

Meanwhile, ecstatic about the victory in the opening match, skipper Rahul Dravid said that he was just happy to be on the right side of it. "It went off well today. It was one of those days when we got a little bit lucky. I am just happy to be on the right side of it. We lost a nailbiter here last year. Nice to come here and pay them back,” said Dravid, who was also the Man of the Match for his knock of 65 runs off 51 balls.

“I have put in a lot of training and put in a lot of hard wotk. Scoring runs sometimes is not in your control. But I am proud of the guys. It was a mixed performance. The brilliance of Shukla, Binny on the field helped.. Teams don't like playing us as they know we will compete and fight," said Dravid.
