Angelo Mathews replaces Mahela Jayawardene as Sri Lanka T20 captain

Colombo: Angelo Mathews has been named Sri Lanka’s T20 captain. The all-rounder has been named captain for a period of one year. Mathews will succeed Mahela Jayawardene who lead Sri Lanka in the recently concluded T20 World Cup where Sri Lanka lost to West Indies in the finals.

Mathews will start his campaign by leading Sri Lanka in a lone T20 international against New Zealand later in the month.

Leading fast bowler Lasith Malinga has been named the vice-captain of the team.
