I don’t think India will experiment with their opening combination: Akram

Former Pakistan fast bowler Wasim Akram questioned whether Indian cricket team has the options available to replace openers Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag.

Akram told ESPN—STAR Sports that he doubts whether India have a Plan B to replace Sehwag and Gambhir ahead of the England tour especially when the experienced batsmen like Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman are not in the middle-order.

Akram said that India will play in home conditions against teams like England and Australia and that will give ample opportunity to the opening pair to get back into form.

Akram also added that both Sehwag and Gambhir showed glimpses of their touch in their last Champions League match and no one can question their ability.

Akram said that both batsmen will play well in the home conditions and he don’t think that India will experiment with the opening combination.

On the ongoing Champions League Twenty20, Akram said that Delhi Daredevils have a strong chance of winning as they have improved with every game and have very good batting line up.

He said that Delhi have some class players top of the order like David Warner, Kevin Pietersen, Mahela Jayawardene and Ross Taylor and that can make the difference plus Sehwag played well in the last match against Scorchers.
