Credit should go to Pathan, Morkel and Delhi Daredevils bowlers: Gautam Gambhir

Centurion: Giving credit to Delhi Daredevils bowlers for their comprehensive win against Kolkata Knight Riders, KKR skipper Gautam Gambhir said that had one of their top four batsmen got 70, his side could have won the match.

"Balaji had a tough day today. Otherwise we were in the game. But these things happen and sometimes you can't hold on to the momentum. It was a good wicket. One of us had to bat through. If one of our top four got 70, we would have won. A lot of credit goes to Irfan Pathan and Morne Morkel and all Delhi fast bowlers. Today was a bit embarrassing," said Gambhir.

Meanwhile Delhi Daredevils captain Mahela Jayawardene it was indeed a good start for his team. "We wanted to start the tournament well and be aggressive and everybody showed that. Unmukt batted really well. He showed a lot of maturity. We were probably 10-15 short, but the bowlers came along superbly. A very good start for us, but we have to keep it going," said Jayawardene.

Man-of-the-match Irfan Pathan said, "Came out really nicely. Getting wickets early on is nice. But the credit should go the batsmen. They played really well, especially Unmukt,” said Pathan, adding that swinging is his strength and that he is trying to get better every day.

“It was a good track to track on. It slightly uneven today and any bowler will want to bowl here,” he said.
