Colombo: Albie Morkel, who is an integral part of Chennai Super Kings in Indian Premier League and plays alongside Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Suresh Raina, says that he will make full use of his experience of sharing the dressing room with Indians when South Africa meet Team India for the T20 World Cup Super-Eight encounter on October 2.
"It certainly helps having played alongside these players. IPL has got all the players (domestic and foreign) close together. I have shared the dressing room with some of guys and will definitely give my inputs to my team. But then it’s vice-versa. So I will have to change a bit to stay on top,” said Morkel.
Speaking about the group which has India, Pakistan and Australia along with South Africa, Morkel said that India have played very well and so have Pakistan. “The wicket here is a bit on the slower side and will offer turn. Our preparation needs to be different. Rain has been a factor in this ongoing edition and under these conditions, it is better to bat first,” felt Morkel.
Talking about his role in the team, the all-rounder said that while batting his role is to give a kick when the team need it while in the bowling department, he bowls depending upon the situation. “When big guns are coming hard, I like to take on them as well.”
