Colombo: Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni seemed quite satisfied with his team’s performance and in particularly with his the veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh. Harbhajan who made a comeback to the Indian Team after a gap of almost a year bowled brilliantly to hand England their biggest defeat in the T20 format of the game. India beat England by 90 runs in the last group A match of the T20 World Cup here.
"I believe I have seen Harbhajan bowl better but under current circumstances, it was a brilliant performance. He was making a comeback and got a chance to prove that he is good and under these conditions, one tends to get desperate," Dhoni told.
"He didn't bowl any short deliveries and invited the batsmen to drive. He used the variations like top spinner and doosra effectively,” said Dhoni praising Bhajji who returned with figures of 4-12 including two maiden overs.
Dhoni also added that the senior bowler showed an aggressive intent and was very focused on his job.
Dhoni refusing to divulge any information on the team composition for the next match however dropped a hint that Harbhajan’s chances look very bright in the super eight stages.
" I don't know who all will play in the next game but Harbhajan’s ability to slog down the order, gives us an option of playing a batsman less," he answered.
