Australia who beat Ireland in their opening match will take on West Indies in the second encounter from group B. This is the match that the cricketing world has been waiting for as it is the first time in the tournament that West Indies will be taking the field.
Many cricketing pundits have touted the Caribbean side as a favorite to win the title and it will be a great treat to see them in action.
West Indies have a lot of impact players in their side and will fancy their chances, whereas Australia also have a very balanced side and will be looking to combine their act together to win the match.
Here are few of the players to watch out for in this match and in all likelihood the outcome of the match will depend on their performance.
Australia:
Shane Watson: He is one of the most dangerous batsmen in international cricket. Watson has tremendous power and can clear any ground with ease. Australia depends a lot on him and the extra responsibility seems to work for him. He is dangerous against both fast bowlers and spinners and can take them to cleaners. He is very good with the ball as well and can bowl in the death overs. He played a very good innings in the last match and scored a brilliant half century. He was also very good with the ball and took 3-36.
David Warner: Together, Warner and Watson are one of the most dangerous opening pair in world cricket. Warner takes no time to get the start and provides that cushion to Watson. Warner can tear apart a bowling line-up in a matter of few overs. He missed out in the last match but then would want to make an impact in today’s match.
Pat Cummins: He is one of the most exciting fast-bowling talents going around. He can bowl at express pace and is very good with the change of pace. Cummins can be a game-changer for Australia in this competition.
Mitchell Starc: He has been very good for Australia in the recent series. He bowled beautifully against Pakistan in the ODIs and the T20s. Starc has the ability to swing the ball at a good pace. He can trouble the right-handers with his in-swingers and is very dangerous with the new ball. He did have a good outing in the last match as well and took 2-20 in four overs.
West Indies:
Chris Gayle: The whole hype that is been created for this mach is because of this man. He is the biggest hitter of the cricket ball in world cricket. He was out of international cricket for quite some time but then since he made his return he has been on a roll. He also has been the cream of the various domestic T20 tournaments across the globe and will be eager to make an impact in the tournament.
Kieron Pollard: The big hitting Pollard can change the course of the match with both batting and bowling. His experience in playing in the various T20 tournaments will help the team a great deal.
Dwayne Bravo: Bravo is the one of the best all rounders of the game and his team will depend on him a lot. He is equally effective with both bat and ball. He can change raise the tempo of the match while batting and can also change the course of the game bowling a few good overs.
Sunil Narine: Narine has not played in any of the previous editions of the World Cups but then his exploits in IPL season V has made him a force to reckon to. He has toyed with almost all the batsmen in the IPL and even best players of the spin have failed to pick him in recent matches. He will be spearheading the West Indian bowling attack.
